Route - Xian to Nanning in China

I am travelling in China by bicycle.

Now, I am staying in Luoyang.

Maybe I will arrive Xian on end of this month. and then i will ride a bicycle to Nanning.

But unfortunately, I don`t have detail information about that(road environment, accommodation etc).
So I couldn't make a decision about Nanning route.

Is there anyone who have experience that cycling that route? can you give any advice about route?

Thanks.

Best regards,
Jeremy

Xi'an to Nanning is a long

Xi'an to Nanning is a long way.

Much of China is major roads and polluted cities.

If you are going to make a general plan, it will probably have to be "keep east" or "keep west" when descending through the Sichuan basin.

You can then go via Yunnan (south) or Guizhou (southeast) before entering Guangxi province.

Tips ... Guizhou... the road from Kaili to Rongjiang and Congjiang was great 10 years ago. No idea these days... that's an eternity in rural China.

Sichuan... Zigong has nice old salt well museum and is a pleasant little town. Also some nice river scenery and a dinosaur fossil park out of town. Leshan has the large Buddha, cut in to a cliff with solid rock and with an impressive self-sustaining irrigation system for rain runoff ... definitely worth seeing. Chengdu is wide roads and very modern, worth checking out if just to see the difference with other Chinese cities, though it is expensive. The ancient Shu kingdom sites/museums are worth seeing, if you like ancient history. This was a huge civilization wiped out by the Chinese 2000+ years ago, but evidenced in historical writings and only rediscovered in archaeological terms in the late 1980s if I recall correctly.

If you head to Yunnan, there are a lot of great places to see ... west-side you could go via Lugu Lake, straight south via Liangshan (Yi minority area), southeast to Zhaotong (poor but interesting history such as cliff tombs).

Enjoy the trip.
