Cycling across Europe on a loose schedule!

Hi! We're cycling across Europe this year- very slowly with a lot of detours and a really vague schedule. We're starting in Caen, France around April 1st and heading to Istanbul on a zig zag route through France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia, Albania, Greece and finally Turkey. The full route and details are on our blog if you're curious: www.ourlongwayhome.wordpress.com

Anyways, we were hoping to get some tips for the trip. Any advice on wild camping? And what's the best way to meet up with WarmShowers hosts when we don't really know exactly when we're going to be arriving in each place?! Seems like a lot to ask... "hi, can we stay with you sometime in the month of June?"

Tamiami Trail

Fellow Pedallers

I would .like to cycle Tamiami Trail from Miami to Naples in a few weeks as a solo female. Since the distance is about 100 miles, I anticipate I will need 2 days to do the trip. I will not be camping.

1. Can you suggest anywhere to stay, especially around the 1/2 way mark?
2. Traffic at this time?
3. Risk of getting eaten by a 'gator? (Hey, don't laugh, I'm a Canadian).
4. Any places to get water along the way?
5. Any other suggestions for a safe trip.

Thanks!

Wild camping

Rode Balkans, Greece and Turkey this winter and spring, 2013/2014. Currently, I cycling Eastern Europe. As for wild camping, it has not ben a problem anywhere on route. The only issue you may face, as the beach tourist season starts, some communities in Greece and Croatia restrict wild camping (at least, that was the message locals told me.)

Though, if you stay on roads inland, I suspect that you will have no issues with wild camping.

Enjoy, peter
