Hi,
We'll be touring Uruguay and Brazil next year:

We'd go from montevideo to Salto (after that vy train & bus to Iguaçu):
- Montevideo
- Canelones
- Ruta 11 to san josé de mayo
- Cardona over Ruta 23 & 12
- Then two options to Mercedes: Ruta 2 or 12 and 96 over ombues de lavalle and Dolores
Anyone any thoughts on these routes? Or would you skip it all together and go over West Uruguay & the coast up to Brazil.
Thanks!
Jonathan & Dominique
Hi, I'm a uruguayan cyclist.. starting to travel by bike..
I don't know the route you ask about, but I would strongly recommend to travel through the east coast if you come in the warm times or in the summer.. and are going to brazil after.
Route 10 is good and the ride after Punta del Este and all the way to La Paloma, through the Garzón and Rocha Lagoons is particularly beatiful.
cheers,
ernesto
Thanks Ernesto!
We're planning to go through argentina up to Iguaçu. That's why we go West. Why would you go East? Is the west too hot?
Jonathan
Hi!
When I read about you travelling through the uruguayan coast I inmediatly thought of the east coast, as it is the most well known and enjoyed during our summer.
I sincerely don't know much about the route you would be taking, but I offer to host you at my place in Montevideo when you come.
Good wind!!
