We are a French couple travelling by tandem. Currently in Georgia, we want to reach Central Asia. Given regional geopolitical context, a transit via Russia seems the only option to explore. The goal is not to ride in Russia but to reach Kazakhstan as fast as possible (train, bus, etc.).
Do you know anyone having done such trip recently?
Do you know a reliable travel agency that could help for invitation voucher?
Can you recommend a website or agency for train or bus timetables, prices and booking?
Cheers from Tbilisi!

Hi! Why not the plane from Baku to Kazakhstan? I've heard that it's difficult to get russian visa fast...
I would also like to cross from Georgia from Kazakhstan, this spring. According to my research, land entry to Azerbaïdjan is closed, which prohibits the ferry from Baku, but seems possible to fly from Tbilisi to Aktau. That’s what I’m planning to do, as a last resort, because I want to avoid Russia if possible. I can’t help you any more, but I’m very interested to know how you will manage it. Good luck!
Thanks for your answers.
We avoid taking flights for environmental reason.
For Russia, you have to be a Georgian resident to apply for a visa in Tbilisi. It appears to be too complicated all the more since the situation in Russia is not good with the ongoing war.
Central Asia will be for another trip!
Sounds like a mission and a half. One option that work for me when needing someone to vouch for me to get a Visa was to look on the internet and find a bicycle club in the country you want to enter. Then contact them and ask if they will vouch for you. They're usually very friendly and would do so. I live in the United States and I did this for a Russian visa. Good luck, Doug.
