So I've lived in Santa Cruz for about 12 years and I've never been to Big Sur. I know, slap me on the wrist and call me crazy. Anyway I'm testing out the touring bike I just built by heading down there in a few weeks. Where's the cheap places to camp? Any ladies ever do this trip alone? How is it?

$5 for hiker biker sites in State Parks. They have showers. Nice.
I found it was possible to wild camp if you are comfortable with that and want to do it very cheaply. I rode down there in November when it was possibly less busy than normal but there certainly weren't many people about once night started to fall.
It took me two nights to get from Monterey to Cambria and I wild camped both nights.
Everything is pretty expensive in that area and I took in enough food to feed me for every meal each day I was there. Water was available from rest room taps and other external taps that was good to drink.
Hope you have a nice trip
