Hey all you intrepid wanderers! Just wanted to throw out some advice I wish someone had given me. Camdodias national highway 6, ostensibly the shorter route between Phnom Penh and siem reap is undergoing extensive roadwork right now, by which I mean that 200 km of it is a nightmarish hellscape of dirt and exposed rocky sub-road. Unless you fancy four days of arm and ass punishing bumpiness coupled with a steady diet of fine airborne dust I strongly recommend taking the 5 via Battambang. This is as of January 2015 and from the look of it things are unlikely to improve anytime soon. Ride on friends.

Alert for riders between Phnom Penh and siem reap cambodia!
Thanks for the warning Nick, we are doing this route in July 2015 so added with a bit of monsoon water then it would have been real fun......!
Route 5 it is
Ho,
On november 2014, we prefered to take the speed boat between Siem Rap and Phnom Penh : it was a pleasure of 6h ! No problem, except a delay of 1 h for the departure ...

...or take a bus. As we did . About 6 hrs., and no prob with the bikes. Yes, I remember the very dusty road, and we said a couple of times "good we took the bus"
