Electric vehicle charging

We are planning a long trip with our electric car and two bikes (Pacific coast route). Each of us will ride alone half a day and drive the car the other half so we are sagging our gear in a car. It would be nice to know if hosts have the capability to charge a vehicle. Has anyone else done a trip like this in an all electric vehicle?
