Armenia Turkish Border Crossing Possibly Opening in September

Just stumbled across a news item suggesting that the Armenian - Turkish border might be opening soon - the suggested date at the moment is September. Apparently they have been talking about it for a couple of years but the article suggested that the Alican (near Iğdır, Turkey) - Margara (Armenia) border might open this September - thought it might be of interest.

Having said that a news article a couple of days earlier refuted that information (dated 5th July 2014)

But for those interested in using a Turkey - Armenia border crossing it will be worth keeping an eye on. I certainly would use it if it was open as need to cycle from Yerevan (Armenia) to Vale (Georgia) to Iğdır (Turkey) about 600kms. If the border was open it would be 60kms!!!!
