Biking around Lake Taupo in New Zealand

Hello All,

I would like to know, if anybody could give me some information about biking around Lake Taupo in New Zealand..

I will do the tour of 160 km spread over 3-4 days. I will bike with 3 boys age 13.

Has anybody got some ideas where we could stay? We will bike on the 16/4 /2022, maybe to cold for tenting?

I would be very happy to hear from anybody, who has done the little tour.

For about 100 of the 160km

For about 100 of the 160km lap there is no paid accommodation available (motels, campgrounds etc). Only the section from Turangi to Taupo (55km) has such facilities. You could probably find the odd spot to wild camp in a tent, it will be getting cool overnight in mid April, but still ok. Ive ridden the lake many times but have only ever stayed in Taupo!
