Pacific Coast Bound in September (Seattle to San Diego)

My fiance' and I are new to this whole touring thing, but we are starting our ride beginning September 2 from Seattle, WA. San Diego is the ultimate destination. As two Tennesseean's, we are super excited about our trek along the Pacific Coast. We look forward to meeting other cyclists, and becoming members in the warm shower community. Any advice is most appreciated!

west coast

most the route is signed so enjoy yourself
summer on the coast can be foggy and wet so plan for that
and take highway 1 from legit, CA to get to ocean
and get off highway 101 once in while. Posted route does that at times

oregon coast in september

I think September is the best month to be on the oregon coast. less wind, less fog, and more sun than any other month. the traffic settles a bit too, from rv'ers traveling the coast. We are in Florence, OR the central coast, straight shot to coast from Eugene. We live near a wonderful lake to swim in :) I am new at cycling, my sister is a 4 time Cycle Oregon Participant. We llove cyclists and would enjoy sharing our home too. We have a full size bed in guest room or great camp pads for outdoor sleeping in the yard or deck under the stars. Best wishes to your adventure. maybe we'll see you in September!

Buy the Adventure Cycling Association maps for the entire route. They are excellent. You are definitely going in the right direction, north to south.
