Oblast Kaliningrad/Калининградская область

Hello on my way to Lithuania, I will cycle through Kaliningrad Oblast. Is it possible to cycle from Kaliningrad to Svetlogorsk avoiding the A192, for example some smaller roads through villages like Logwino, Schatrowo and Gratschowka, as those small roads are within the area with restrictions for regulated visiting? I would only use those roads for transit to the coast, no camping within this area.

Thanks for clarification.

Kathrin

I see one cycling route on

I see one cycling route on https://www.opencyclemap.org/?zoom=10&lat=54.84571&lon=20.14499&layers=B0000

Since July 1st, there are free e-visa to Kaliningrad. I just noticed this last night and now I am planning Gdynia - Kaliningrad - Klaipeda.

Any tips or experiences are apprecated :)

Edit: I just found lots of information here: http://www.bicycle39.ru/

Lithuania

Mostly for Pieter: We just did the Lithuanian part of the Eurovelo. On the Curonian Spit the bicycle path is poorly maintained in certain places - and for most of the way, bicycles are not allowed on the main road. Be sure to climb the dune! Feel free to contact me as well for details.

I cycled there last year,

I cycled there last year, back and forth to Nida from Klaipeda. The cycling path gets weathered by the storms, I suppose, but I would rather be there than on the asfalt road.

There was nothing to buy between Nida and the ferry. I was very happy that there was a young woman with a nice coffee machine, selling coffee and mushroom-shaped cookies from the back of her car. This was at the parking area to go up in the dunes. I was in there for a bit, but I did not have time for the long walk, had to get back to the ferry before dark. Maybe this year! I did succeed in producing a photo that at least the server software did accept.

Arrived

Passing the border was no problem. Cyclists are fortunate to skip the very slow line for cars. I received a white plastic tag, to be handled in all the way at the end of several checks. I was aaked to open my panniers a few times but did not need to unpack. My passport was scrutinized for a long time because it has been in the laundry and gotten a bit damaged. But after consultation  with other border guards I was allowed to pass.

The road from Gromonowo started quiet but was a bit scary nearer Kaliningrad. All cars were speeding in the 70 kmh stetches. Several times meeting traffic was approaching me head on in my lane when overtaking another car.
