Traintickets for bikes in Europe (long distance)

Hi cyclists,

as I'm going to start an internship in November at Brussels, Belgium for 9 months I'd like to ask you guys if you have experience in taking your bikes on long-distance trains in Europe. I'd like to go from Berlin to Brussels.

I've just called the "Deutsche Bahn" and they couldn't offer me a train going from Berlin to Brussles. Weird! Or maybe someone know a city / trainstation nearby Brussels where you can take your bike with. In addition I haven't found something like a network map of long-distance trains in Europe.

So if someone knows something or somebody I would be grateful to hear. :)

Many thanks from Berlin
Lukas

I can't see anything, but if you contact the train station, they should be able to give you that info.

Other ideas...

Hi,
We don't made our own experiences but some of our WS-guests told about travelling with FLIX-bus.https://www.flixbus.de/ and taking bikes with them.
Other guy told us about EUROSENDER https://www.eurosender.com/

In June we used transport service of DB https://www.bahn.de/p/view/service/gepaeck/ausland.shtml for shipping bikes from North of Germany to Austria. It was perfect. Unfortunately they don't run this service to Belgium (yet).

Traintickets for bikes in Europe (long distance)

Hi,

Online booking sites more often than before offer the possibility to book with a bike.

Such is the case with Deutche Bahn.

In your case, it won't work automatically between Berlin and Brussels, but you can go (and book) in Germany (Berlin -> Aachen) then take a train that accepts bikes between Aachen and Brussels. It may be possible to have an ICE go from Berlin to Köln, change for another ICE to Bruxelles Midi (Thalys does not allow full bikes). ICE requires a special booking for bikes with additional fare.

All trains allow bikes carried in a special bike bag with wheels taken off.

Good luck.
