Crossing to Slovenia from Croatia near Zagreb for non-EU passport holder?

I am an American bicycle tourist planning a ride that includes going from Zagreb to Ljubljana. I need to find a border crossing where a non-EU passport holder can cross from Croatia to Slovenia. I am aware of the Bregana crossing. But, it is on an expressway where bicycles aren’t allowed.

I’ve heard of a “small” Bregana crossing, near the main one that I can use. Do you know anything about this “small” Bregana crossing?

Hi Ray!

Hi Ray!

Small bregana crossing is right next to expressway crossing, you cant miss it, since probably you will be coming from that road anyway:

You could also cross in Harmica which is little bit up north:

Either way its the same.

border crossing

Zagreb - Zaprešič, go for Dobova border crossing. After that go for Brežice and follow Sava river upstream until Ljubljana. When in Ljubljana, contact me for  a beer.

Just keep pedaling
