Hi- I am going to be in Sweden-flying into Arlanda airport-and my husband and I have 7 days for a bike trip. Where should we go? It will be late July. I have read a lot about the Sverigeleden. Should I go north, south, etc? Things I would like to see and do along the way: Small cute towns, hikes, maybe canoe?, meet wonderful people, camp, and more.
Also, we will be just finishing a backpacking trip in Iceland so we will have our backpacking backpacks. Any suggestions on where we could store it? also any suggestions on where to rent bikes?
The Stockholm arcipelago is very nice for cycling. You can use the Waxholmbolaget ferries:http://www.waxholmsbolaget.se/visitor/
and plan your holiday. About 60km south of Stockholm is Nynäshamn. From there you can take the ferry to Gotland. A really nice palce for biketouring.
I think I'm actually wanting to go along the coast from Göteborg to Helsingborg and then across to kristianstad. I'm not sure if I should then try and go up to Jönköping or go to karlskrona.
Also should I rent a bike or should I try and buy one used and then resell it?
Difficult to return rental bikes in a different city. Probably not possible in Sweden.
As to route, there is Cykelspåret på Västkusten: https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/103252
And I am in Växjö, 120 km north of Kristianstad.
I live in Southern Sweden, Malmö. There are many nice bike routes in my region if you plan on coming all the way down south in Sweden.
Let me know if/how I can help.
