HI there!
I'm currently in nepal and am about to make my way to Calcutta with the intention of getting a visa for Bangladesh and Burma (in Calcutta) and cycling overland into thailand.
I've read that i can get the Burma visa from Calcutta and that I also need to get a special permit (seven diamonds travel has been mentioned). Though it seems that most people have passed from burma to india as opposed to vice verser.
Does anybody have any up to date information on obtaining this permit and whether its possible to travel overland from India to Burma and the best way to do it?!
