My bicycle trip is from Kalispel MT to Annapolis MD(or possibly to Virginia if the route is better) This is a trip that I may be taking relatively soon. I've been doing some research online for good routs and tips. I'll be getting my bike over in Montana and preparing for the trip there. It would be my first time to do such a long trip so I'm not looking to set any records. To get from one place to the other with little hang-ups or lost time is my goal. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jon- You have a fun trip coming up! I enjoyed the northern tier cross country 8 years ago, and spent several days in Kalispell when my friend was hospitalized with a trip-ending pulmonary blood clot. I used the Adventure Cycling Northern Tier maps. www.adventurecycling.org. If you have not used their maps before, you would really find them helpful in every way. From Kalispell, I took about 8 weeks to get to Bar Harbor, Maine. This was an average of 65 miles per day. I don't really take a lot of days off, but prefer to take time during each day to either visit museums or have an early day and explore towns. I would encourage that you DON'T go for record setting miles, unless your schedule dictates. One note...I did use the ferry from Manitowoc, Wis to Michigan.
