We are an older couple planning to ride from Hungary to Poland in May/June 2011 as a part of a 3 month Central Europe bicycle tour. Can anyone provide some advice regarding possible routes from Hungary to Krakow, Poland keeping in mind that we are not mad mountain climbers so the easiest route would be preferred?
All suggestions greatly appreciated

Cycling from Hungary to Krakow, Poland
We toured through Eastern Europe in 2009, using trains to cover longer distances. the cycle path around Lake Balaton is dead easy. Cycling up the Danube from Budapest is easy and scenic. The abundance of signed cycle routes in the Czech Republic can be a bit bewildering. There's a greenway from Vienna to Krakow via Bruno & Olomouc - http://www.krakow-wieden.pl/?lang=en, and the Amber Tail greenway from Budapest to Krakow but the bit through Slovakia seems undeveloped - http://www.ambertrail.info/index.html. another site, tho'not much info is www.greenways.pl
Our favourite bits were the Moravian wine district, Olomouc and a loop ride we did from Zakopane that included the Dunajec Gorge.
Thank you Jeff and Gerda, we have followed your advice and have made contact with the Slovakian co-ordinator of the Amber Trail. Most helpful. Did you camp through these countries?
