Any suggestions are welcome. I clearly miss the Czech Republic and seeing Prague (sniff sniff) but have also heard Krakow is beautiful so maybe the trade-off is worth it: I don't think I'll have time for both. I don't know much yet about mountain ranges and other geographical features along the way.
I'd welcome travel companions en route for parts of the journey, so drop me a line by email if you think we will cross paths. Attached is a pic of the bike, but I'll be adding extras like a computer, front pannier racks, rearview mirror, a basket, a tent, and so on.

Looks like a great trip, I’ve done most of your route on various occasions, including your starting and finishing destinations and most places in-between.
Berlin is worth a look of course. From there I’d take the Spree bike path from Berlin to Frankfurt/Oder. Then I would ride the Oder-Neisse bike path south to the bridge at Przewóz and enter Poland. This is very flat and forested with low traffic roads. A lot of interesting old German, now Polish, towns and villages. The next task is to cross the Oder, not too many bridges if you want to stay north. There is a bridge at Scinawa and near Malczyce. If you are in the area, go to the Lubiaz monastery. This is real close to my place so I can ride out and meet you with my daughter Milena if you will be in the area on a weekend. If we are around, you can park the bike at our village of Jary and take a train into Wroclaw for an interesting day trip. Staying north of Wroclaw, I'd ride to Trzebnica, while there are back roads, it may be best to take the main road for the 10 miles or so. After Trzebnica, there are plenty of back roads to Olesnica, then on to Namyslow, Kluczbork, generally to Częstochowa. Then you enter the land of eagle nest castles as you head south to Krakow and then Slovakia. There is a good bike path following the river for much of this ride. You will be in the hills until you leave northern Hungary. Then it’s flat as a potato pancake….

I've just read your post ... i hope it's not too late to say that i know the way from Bremen -> Hannover -> Magdeburg -> Berlin -> Poland (Wroclaw) quiet well
i did parts of that way in the past
so just let me know where you are right now and maybe i can give you some more advices

I actually headed out on a training ride, returned to Groningen and have been stuck here a week re-preparing! Ahh such is the dreadful like of cycle touring. I've procrastinated long and hard but am heading out today. I plan to head south into France instead as the logistics at the end are much more straightforward...

good idead to head south. The days are getting shorter and soon it will be cold, that said, so far we've had a great start to fall! I'd like to introduce you to my 6 year old daughter, my tandem partner. She likes women who are brave on their bikes. So, maybe next time!
