Hello,
We are flying into Istanbul in a few days and want to know if it is possible to bike from the Anaturk Airport into city center. Possibly taking coast road (Kennedy?) Is this route possible? Otherwise, is it easy to take a loaded touring bicycle onto public transport?
Also, we'd love any advice on possible trips out of the city. We have a week to spend in Istanbul before we cycle towards Italy, but we don't want to spend the whole time in the city center. Any tips appreciated!
Thanks so much!
Hi Mary. You can but that road is pretty busy and dangerous. I was there a couple of months back and we opted for a private taxi. It was about 70 TRY but so worth not having the hassle.
As for taking a trip out of the city I highly suggest taking the ferry over to Yalova and cycling to Lake Iznik and camping in the area.
Regards,
Jared
Emrun,
