Thinking along the lines of a spot where traveling cyclists can update their location information- that way, traveling cyclist could meet up if folks are going the same way etc..
Also, some kind of a comprehensive list of cyclists touring in a certain region - a way to share blogs etc..

Possible cyclist tracking?
Hi Derek,
Google Groups has something along this line. For example there is "panam-riders" at http://groups.google.com/group/panam-riders which is described as "This is a group for people cycling all or part of the route from Alaska to Argentina. This site can be used to share tips and route information, or to find other people to ride sections of the route with."
There is also Yahoo! Groups and probably others as well. If you can't find a "Group" dedicated to a popular cycling route that interests you then perhaps you can create one.
Kevin
Thanks Kevin!
I'm in the process of building what you are looking for over at bicycletouringhub.com - It's basic, only to the point of picking off your location as you login and then notifying of other members in the area, whether they be touring or not, also providing insight as to if there are any free campsites nearby you. It's not perfect as it relies on some geolocating your internet service provider, but it can be manually overridden for those who want to spend that time. I've got an Iphone/Mobile app in the works where one can "check in" for family members wondering where they are, but waiting for the site to build up a bit more steam before I spend nights in a tent coding when I should be out riding and meeting people :) Interested in your input however.
check trackmytour...i have app for my iphone..i think they also have website...
Having difficulty posting a request. We (couple) are looking for a host somwhere on the EV 6 route between Basel and Kaiserstuhl (Switzerland). We will have come from Colmar in France, so will probably need to stay somewhere about 60 km or so from Basel. This will be on June 25th or 26th. I suspect I'm posting this in the wrong place!
