Large family cycling Eurovelo 17 and 15

My wife and I are cycling the Rhine and Rhine river routes this summer and have never used warm showers due to not wanting to inconvenience people with our large family. We have 6 kids!

We’re wondering if there are hosts along the route with outdoor camping options. We’d love our kids to meet more people, and for them to experience staying with a host from another country. On this 3 month trip we’re also joined by my two nieces and a nephew in their 20’s, so my concern is that we’re too large of a party for this to work.

I’ve done some searching on my phone, but the site filtering wasn’t working to show 5+ locations that allowed tent camping.

Would love any tips, is it likely we could find a few hosts between Marseilles and Amsterdam?

Find Hosts

We travel as a family as well. If I look for places I scan the map for other families. (Of course, there is no real filter - but you find out in the profiles). Other families don't just share the same passion but a common life-situation. We are not on your route, but we have a big garden and would welcome families like you.

Touring with a family

Hi,
We have just finished an amazing ten day tour along the Rhein with 3 children. We looked for hosts that had children and also hosts who mentioned camping in their garden. Even if they said they could only accomodate 3 people, if they mentioned camping, we still contacted them. We wrote in our profile that we came equipped with tents, sleeping bags and sleep mats, so that hosts knew we had the gear needed for sleeping and they only needed to provide the space. One place we stayed had just recently hosted a family with 8 children! So, I think, just ask, and you may be surprised which doors will open to you. All the best!
