Hello lenbej,
My husband and I have just cycled for 7 weeks in Morocco from late October to mid December 2010. I can tell you of how it was for me as a woman cycling there, though I cannot tell you what it would be like cycling alone. My favourite spots in Morocco for cycling were: the Tizi n Test road in the Atlas mountains, the surroundings of Tafraout in the Anti Atlas mountains especially the oasis of Ait Mansour, and finally the Atlantic coast from Aglou Plage (near Tiznit) to Sidi Ifni. Please contact us if you have any specific questions about Morocco.

Thank you very mutch for the information, I will go towards Tafraroute. Do I need extra strong tires, and what is traffic like? Hotels on good distans to sleep every night?
best regards Lena

Hello Lena,
As for tires, we have Schwalbe Supremes. The roads were mostly paved and in pretty good condition, except for the descent from the Tizi n Test summit. We did one day of cycling on "pistes", which are dirt roads but really have too much sand to make it enjoyable. We had to get off and push through the sand a lot. One thing to watch out for in Morocco is a tree that has very sharp and long thorns. It is tempting to rest in the shade of that tree, but any thorns that have fallen on the ground can pierce your tire easily!
We had a tent with us but found we didn't need it so much as hotels were usually easy to find. For example, a very simple but clean hotel room (a double) would be around 70-100 Dirhams. If you want your own toilet and shower in the room, the cost is twice that or more.
Traffic was pretty good on the routes that we took. The drivers honk to let you know that they are passing and would give us a lot of room. We avoided the main roads most of the time. The only really bad sections for traffic were from Tighmi (Tirhmi) to Tiznit and on the main road south of Guelmim.
We hope that helps!
