Gdansk - Kaliningrad - Klaipeda (starting July 16th)

Dear Warm Showers Community,
my girlfriend and me will arrive in Gdansk on July the 16th.

In the then following two weeks we are going to ride to Klaipeda in Lithuania.
(Hopefully by crossing Kaliningrad, atm we're still waiting for our visa.)

If you have recommendations for places to visit and routes to take in the region please let me know.
And of course we'd very much appreciate offers to stay for a night during that time!

I'd also like to know, if it's possible to buy bike-tickets/reservations for the polnish TLK-Train???
We'll be taking the train from Poznan to Gdansk.

Looking forward to get to know like-minded fellow bicycle enthusiasts, people and country. :))
Cheers
Paul

Hi,

Hi,
In terms of train tickets you can easily find as well as buy them through www.pkp.pl
Part of this website can be displayed in foreign languages. And even if not, it is easy to manage using web translators. You can pay via your credit card and print the ticket.
Take care!
D.

It depends in what are you

It depends in what are you interested in.

Marlbork castle is quite unique.
Ships that travel by land near Elblag.
Curonian spit has a lot of POI to visit.
Nazi concentration camp is important thing to visit at leat once in your lifetime.
Mazurian region suppose to be very beautiful... but I wasn't there yet.
And so on... plus various regional events to check.

Hello Paul,

Hello Paul,

I rode the same way 7 years ago (2009). Gdansk - Elblag - Kaliningrad - Svetly - Zelenogradsk, Curonian Split - Klaipeda. Great trip. Do not forget to visit the infocentre on Curonian split (or Kurskaja Kasa as the Russians say). And Kaliningrad is a very interesting city. On the Polish part Gdansk itself and Frombork are really worth the visit.

For a little more information you can read my blog from then:

Enjoy the trip.
