According to the warmshowers list there are a little over 50 hosts in Dublin (although maybe only half that active).
If there is enough interest, I am hoping to organise a get-together over some food and drinks to meet up and put some faces to profiles, and maybe swap some stories, good and bad. If any other cycle tourers are in town at the time, then they would be more than welcome to come of course.
I'll be messaging people individually, but I hope people can add their suggestions here.
Provisionally, I'm suggesting Tuesday April 14th, at the Hop House pub on Parnell Street in Dublin, maybe around 7pm.
Any comments, suggestions, welcome.
Philip
I would definitely be on for this, good idea! Hopefully a few more will too. Tim and date good for me!
Hi Philip,
I just hosted for the first time this past weekend. I haven't toured since 2013 and am not sure when I'll get the chance again. I've put the details of the meet up in my diary and hopefully I can make it then.
All the best,
JJ
I would totally be up for that, though I unfortunately will be on a cycling touring in California during April. Though I would be back in the last week in April. After that I'm back on the road on the Cycle Against Suicide for 2 weeks. http://www.cycleagainstsuicide.com/
So I could only come along if its during the last week in April or mid may sometime. Sounds good anyway
I would be curious to meet fellow cyclist and hopefully get inspired... it feels like it has been a while and ready for a new adventure.
I love the idea of cycling for suicide prevention! Maybe next year...
I'll mark it on the calendar and let me know if it is happening for sure.

Hi there, Michal and Laura here, sounds great, let us know when and where
and we will be there! Cheers!
So far it seems the time and date (14th April, 10pm) suits most people who've responded to me, except for Ciaran (maybe if its a success we can do another one in early Summer).
How about the venue? I picked Hop House as its central and easy to find and quite bike friendly. For those who don't know it, its a Korean pub with attached restaurant on Parnell Street East (about 100 metres from the Parnell Monument). They have a smoking area out the back and are happy for people to wheel bikes through the pub to secure them safely there. But I'm open to other suggestions.
Hey Philip
Great idea. Thanks for organising. Yes, April 14th suits me too.
7pm is it?
See you then!
Hi Philip,
Great idea, count me in. Thanks for organizing and inviting me.
Looking forward to sharing the touring stories and experience.
Petra
Great, Petra, looking forward to seeing you there.
Philip
Hi guys,
great idea this meeting!
thanks for letting me know.
I'm from Argentina, living in Dublin since 2 years ago.
I will be very happy to meet another bikers :)
I'll see you guys there!
hello all,
yeah i think this a great idea, i'll deffo be along for a pint or two, be deadly to meet some other dublin hosts and share some stories from the road.
Hop house on the 14th suits me grand,
see yiz there ;)
Sounds good, I'll be there.
From reading the thread I couldn't figure out if it's 7pm or 10pm. What time are we meeting?
Great, nice to see more names here, it'll be great to meet everyone.
Maciej, sorry, my error above - the original suggestion still stands, 7pm next Tuesday.
Hi all,
this is a great idea, but I am unable to make it the 14th. good choice of location!
Hi everyone,
Just to confirm that I've asked the Hop House to reserve a corner for us from 7pm on Tuesday.
The Hop House pub is on Parnell Street, about 100 metres east of the Parnell Monument. It still has its old name 'the Shakespeare' over the front. Ive asked them to keep the table by the door (beside the window and a big Korean flag).
Its a bar, but they do snacks and full meals (Korean/Japanese food) from the shared restaurant next door, so we can decide as we go if people want to eat - they also do big jugs of beer if you lot prefer that!
I'll be there from 7 - all welcome. See you all then.
Philip
hi all, I'll be there too! ;) Martina
Hi all,
New to warmshowers, planning some cycling trips over the next few months, would love to find out more about peoples experience hosting and being hosted.
See you then,
Sam
Thanks for everyone who came along.
If anyone thinks a follow-up in a few weeks time is a good idea, let me know - I'll only organise one if enough people think its a good idea, so feed-back is welcome.
heya philip,
i think it'd be a great idea to have another get-together, but then i was one of the few who showed.....................
how about the rest of yiz guys and gals ?
anyone else interested........we could also organise a group spin now that the weather is turning.......
I'll keep an eye here ;)
